Job Purpose
To coordinate the implementation of the "Climate and Biodiversity Action through Circular Economy Solutions (CB-ACES)" project in South Africa, aiming to reduce negative impacts on climate and biodiversity by transforming sectors towards a socially just circular economy. This involves managing project activities, liaising with stakeholders, and ensuring successful project outcomes under the supervision of the Project Manager at UNIDO HQ.
Responsibilities
Coordinate project activities in South Africa, including work plan development, implementation, quality control, and monitoring. Liaise with government counterparts, manage national project consultants and contractors, and oversee procurement processes. Monitor and evaluate project activities, manage administrative and financial aspects, and prepare regular reports. Coordinate steering committee meetings and external relations, including maintaining networks and disseminating project knowledge. Prepare a consolidated final report.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of professional experience in coordinating national development/technical cooperation projects. Experience in evaluating country-specific needs and problems. Required project management experience in circular economy or related fields. Desirable experience in circular economy, climate change mitigation, or biodiversity protection in industry; working within large project consortia; results-based monitoring and evaluation; and gender-responsive/socially inclusive approaches. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with government, private sector, and civil society is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; ERP experience is desirable.
