Maintenance Technician (Electrical)
Organizational Context
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. This position is within the Facility Management Services (BMS) of the Directorate of Corporate Services and Operations (COR), responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of the Vienna International Centre (VIC) buildings and installations.
Job Purpose
To provide multi-skilled technical support for the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and installations within the Vienna International Centre (VIC), ensuring safe and efficient operation.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and repair of electrical devices, including lamps, sockets, fuses, distribution boxes, and cabling. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electro-mechanical equipment such as automatic doors and rolling shutters. Assist in supervising electrical projects and maintenance contractors, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and safety standards. Record work performed in the electronic work order platform. Work in shifts until 19:00hrs.
Work Experience
Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience as an electrical or electro-mechanical technician is required with secondary education and apprenticeship. Ability to use standard office software is required. Basic AutoCAD knowledge is desirable. Good physical condition is necessary for demanding tasks.
Skills
Proficiency in electrical maintenance and repair, electro-mechanical systems, fault finding, and installation. Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures. Basic computer literacy.
