Organizational Context
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Member States, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and SDG-9. The Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development (TCS) oversees strategies for sustainable industrial development, including environment, energy, MSMEs, and digitalization. The Division of Energy and Climate Action (TCS/ECA) assists Member States in transitioning to low-carbon economies through renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions. The Energy Systems and Industrial Decarbonization Unit (TCS/ECA/ESD) focuses on deploying sustainable energy technologies and developing policies for net-zero industrial development.
Job Purpose
To support partnership development and management within the Energy Systems and Industrial Decarbonization (ESD) Unit, contributing to advancing industrial decarbonization, sustainable energy systems, and related flagship initiatives by fostering collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage strategic partnerships, conduct stakeholder mapping and market intelligence, support partnership strategy development and implementation, identify and manage partnerships with governments, development banks, private sector, and international organizations. Coordinate partner engagement, prepare briefing materials, facilitate internal coordination, support resource mobilization, monitor partnership activities, and prepare knowledge products and communication materials.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in technical cooperation, project/portfolio management, strategic partnerships, or international cooperation related to climate action, industrial decarbonization, innovation, or sustainable development. Experience working with governments, development partners, international organizations, and the private sector, particularly in developing countries, is required. Demonstrated ability in stakeholder analysis, identifying partnership opportunities, and developing collaborative arrangements is essential. Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, along with excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for multicultural environments, are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and partnership management tools is desirable.
