National Private Sector and Business Association Liaison
Organizational Context
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. UNIDO's mission is to promote and accelerate ISID in Member States, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and SDG-9. The organization focuses on areas such as renewable energy, sustainable access, climate action, and fostering innovation, with cross-cutting priorities including industrial policy advice, skills development, digitalization, gender equality, and leveraging private sector investment. UNIDO operates through technical cooperation, analytical and research functions, normative functions, and convening partnerships.
Job Purpose
To strengthen Paraguay's Quality Infrastructure System for the sustainability and competitiveness of its agro-industrial sector through the SiCalidad Paraguay project, building on previous initiatives. The project aims to enhance the technical capacity of Quality Infrastructure Institutions, strengthen Business Intermediary Organizations, and promote a quality culture and sustainable practices.
Responsibilities
Conduct a rapid assessment of private sector engagement, update stakeholder maps and engagement plans, liaise with senior representatives of business associations and public institutions, support strategic meetings and consultations, follow up on agreements, and prepare a final activity report.
Work Experience
Minimum of seven years of progressive professional experience in private-sector leadership, institutional governance, business association coordination, public-private articulation, or strategic management. Proven experience with business intermediary organizations, industrial associations, or chambers of commerce. Demonstrated experience coordinating with public institutions, ministries, SME support organizations, and donors. Experience in designing or following up on programs related to SME competitiveness, quality, sustainability, or industrial development. Ability to facilitate high-level meetings and build consensus. Experience in strategic planning or organizational strengthening is desirable. Knowledge of Paraguay's industrial ecosystem is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools is required.
