The Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development oversees strategies for sustainable industrial development, including digitalization. The position is within the Division of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence (TCS/DAI), focusing on advancing industrial competitiveness through digital technologies and AI in developing countries. The role supports the Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access (ATCMA) Programme, implemented jointly with ITC, aiming to increase intra-African and EU-Africa trade by enhancing market access, quality compliance, and SME export potential.
Job Purpose
To provide technical expertise and support for the implementation of enterprise upgrading and digital transformation initiatives within the Africa Trade Competitiveness and Market Access (ATCMA) Programme, focusing on enhancing the competitiveness and export potential of SMEs in the COMESA, ECCAS, and ECOWAS regions.
Responsibilities
Lead and monitor enterprise upgrading and digital transformation activities under the ATCMA programme. Provide technical support for project execution, ensuring timely delivery of quality outputs within budget. Prepare project inputs, monitor progress, and participate in oversight meetings. Propose annual work programs and contribute to resource mobilization strategies. Manage external relations with stakeholders in the relevant value chains. Design and organize global forum activities related to enterprise upgrading and digital transformation. Provide technical advisory services to counterparts. Support advocacy and communication efforts for the ATCMA programme.
Work Experience
Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, 7 years with a Master's degree, or 5 years with a Doctorate. Experience in technical cooperation in developing countries, including international experience, is required. Experience in all phases of the Project Cycle is required. Experience in enterprise upgrading and digital transformation is required. Exposure to the needs and conditions in developing countries, particularly in Africa, is desirable.
