The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. UNIDO's mission is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Member States, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and SDG-9. The Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development (TCS) focuses on strategies and interventions for sustainable industrial development, including environment, energy, MSMEs, and digitalization. The Division of Circular Economy and Green Industry (TCS/CEG) works towards greener and more circular industries by minimizing resource use and pollutant emissions, promoting circular economy policies, and supporting resource efficiency and climate action.
Job Purpose
The 'SWITCH to circular economy value chains' (SWITCH2CE) project, co-funded by the EU and Finland, supports enterprises in adopting circular economy practices within selected value chains (Plastic Packaging, Textiles & Garments, ICT/electronics). The project aims to assist suppliers in developing countries to transition towards circularity, contributing to sustainable growth, low carbon development, job creation, and a healthier environment. This role supports the project's communication and visibility efforts.
Responsibilities
Implement the project's communication strategy, ensuring real-time promotion through posts and photos. Review, edit, and proofread communication materials, develop key messages, and design newsletter templates. Contribute to strategies for innovative promotional tools and enhance the project's digital presence. Train the project team on digital communication. Prepare a final assignment report. Coordinate promotional materials and ensure effective distribution. Contribute to campaign implementation, including organizing outreach events and media features.
Work Experience
At least five years of professional experience in public relations and communication, including developing communication/visibility strategies for international technical cooperation projects. Experience in media and outreach strategy implementation, drafting press releases and media assets, and tailoring messages for different audiences is required. Familiarity with environmental issues (e.g., circular economy, resource efficiency) and EU-funded projects (including communication guidelines) is also required. Experience in developing countries and with creative software (Adobe Suite, Final Cut Pro) is desirable.
Skills
Strong communication and public relations skills, strategic planning, content development, digital media management, event organization, and reporting. Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and to innovate and think outside the box.
