Intern (Climate Technology Innovation)
Organizational Context
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development for poverty reduction, globalization, and environmental sustainability. UNIDO's mandate aligns with SDG-9 and supports Member States in achieving sustainable development goals through technical cooperation, research, normative functions, and partnerships. The Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development (TCS) focuses on environment, energy, MSMEs, and digitalization. The Division of Climate Innovation and Montreal Protocol (TCS/CMP) assists Member States in adopting low-carbon and climate-resilient industrialization solutions, promoting innovation across technology, finance, policy, and regulation. The Climate Technology Innovation Unit (TCS/CMP/CTI) specifically supports Member States in fostering innovation for low-carbon and climate adaptation solutions, facilitating technology transfer, and building markets for these solutions.
Job Purpose
To support the Climate Technology Innovation Unit (TCS/CMP/CTI) in assisting Member States with project development and implementation related to climate adaptation and resilience, clean energy, and innovation ecosystems. The intern will gain expertise in climate adaptation issues and collaboration methods with international organizations.
Responsibilities
Assist in project design and resource mobilization, including drafting proposals, preparing donor submissions, and identifying funding opportunities. Support project implementation and coordination by organizing meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities, and preparing progress reports. Conduct research and data analysis on climate adaptation, climate technologies, resilient industries, and climate finance, contributing to policy recommendations and knowledge products.
Work Experience
No specific work experience is required, but relevant experience in project support, research, or data analysis within the fields of climate change, sustainable development, or industrial development will be considered an asset.
Skills
Strong research and analytical skills. Ability to support project design, implementation, and coordination. Familiarity with climate adaptation, climate technologies, and sustainable development concepts. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
