Organizational Context
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development for poverty reduction, environmental sustainability, and fair globalization. UNIDO's mandate aligns with SDG-9 and supports Member States in achieving sustainable industrial development through technical cooperation, research, normative functions, and partnerships.
Job Purpose
To support UNIDO Member States in leveraging Article 6 mechanisms of the Paris Agreement to finance low-carbon industrial development and promote integrity in carbon markets. This involves coordinating UNIDO's strategic approach, leading initiatives on carbon market engagement, and building partnerships to enhance participation in high-integrity carbon markets.
Responsibilities
Administer technical cooperation projects related to international carbon markets, Article 6 implementation, and industrial decarbonization. Analyze national readiness for carbon market participation, draft project documents and reports, monitor project execution, and contribute to stakeholder coordination and technical research on carbon pricing and climate finance.
Work Experience
At least three years of relevant work experience, including the ability to research and analyze information. Experience in developing countries, carbon markets (international level desirable), and engaging with diverse stakeholders on climate policy and sustainable industrial transformation is desirable.
Skills
Information analysis, project administration, report drafting, stakeholder coordination, research, understanding of carbon markets and climate finance mechanisms.
