Organizational Context
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is a specialized agency promoting industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. UNIDO's mission, aligned with the Lima, Abu Dhabi, and Riyadh Declarations, is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Member States, supporting the 2030 Agenda and SDG-9. The Office of Evaluation and Internal Oversight (EIO) provides independent assurance and advice through audits, investigations, and evaluations to improve UNIDO's operations, internal controls, risk management, and governance. The Independent Evaluation Unit (EIO/IEU) plans and conducts evaluations of UNIDO programmes and projects to assess relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, sustainability, and impact, and follows up on recommendations to ensure accountability and organizational improvement.
Job Purpose
To provide administrative and specialized support to independent evaluations, assisting in their planning, preparation, conduct, and reporting, and managing related processes and systems.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning and conducting evaluations; prepare terms of reference and consultant job descriptions; design questionnaires and surveys; coordinate field missions; facilitate meetings and interviews; process and present evaluation data; finalize reports, including data visualization; prepare and track Management Response Sheets and Action Plans; provide logistical support for workshops; administer consultant recruitment; monitor budgets and expenditures; assist in preparing reports and correspondence; perform ad-hoc assignments.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant work experience is required. If holding a first-level university degree or higher, five years of relevant experience is required. Experience in supporting managerial/professional staff, administrative skills for project/programme execution, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with UN system office procedures are required. Experience with SAP or similar ERP software, data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI), and AI tools are highly desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong administrative and organizational skills. Ability to process and present qualitative and quantitative data. Experience with digital survey platforms. Familiarity with evaluation processes and reporting. Ability to manage tracking systems and databases. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity.
