Organizational Context
UNIDO promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. The role supports Member States in achieving inclusive and sustainable industrial development, aligning with SDG-9 and the broader 2030 Agenda. The position operates within UNIDO's Directorate of Global Partnerships and External Relations, specifically the Division of Regional Bureaus and Field Coordination, and leads the Sub-Regional Office in Egypt, covering Egypt, Djibouti, Libya, Somalia, and the State of Palestine.
Job Purpose
To represent UNIDO, lead the Sub-Regional Office, and promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development in the assigned sub-region, contributing to national development goals and fostering partnerships.
Responsibilities
Represent UNIDO and promote its role as a development partner; lead SRO activities and contribute to sub-regional/national development goals; identify donor priorities; lead/coordinate technical cooperation projects and programmes, including PCPs; report on UNIDO activities; strengthen partnerships with governments, private sector, and UN organizations; disseminate UNIDO's work; support country offices; manage office financial and human resources; ensure compliance with security and safety standards; monitor programme delivery; develop and report on yearly business plans using Results-Based Management.
Work Experience
Minimum of 13 years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor’s degree, 10 years with a master’s degree, or 8 years with a doctorate. Experience must include progressive responsibility at international levels in economic development, technical cooperation at a senior level, evaluating developing country needs, managing technical and non-technical teams, utilizing performance data for decision-making, representational functions, and working with the UN system. Experience with intergovernmental bodies, strategic partnerships, and resource mobilization is desirable.
