Organizational Context
UNIDO promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. The organization focuses on achieving the SDGs, particularly SDG-9, by supporting Member States in industrial development, policy advice, research, and technical cooperation. The Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development oversees various divisions, including Climate Innovation and Montreal Protocol (TCS/CMP), which focuses on low-carbon and climate-resilient industrialization and compliance with the Montreal Protocol.
Job Purpose
To support ongoing projects and new initiatives within the portfolio of the Project Manager in the Climate Innovation and Montreal Protocol Division, focusing on HCFC phase-out management and sustainable city development.
Responsibilities
Assists in appraising, adjusting, and presenting project proposals; monitors program execution, identifies problems, and recommends corrective actions. Develops and administers technical cooperation projects. Locates and analyzes economic and social data. Identifies, describes, and justifies project possibilities. Reviews and adjusts project proposals for consistency with priorities and resources. Develops project execution schedules and methods. Exchanges project formulation and execution information with government officials and donor agencies. Monitors project execution through discussions, correspondence, field visits, and progress reports. Organizes project briefings and debriefings. Supports global forum activities for knowledge transfer and industrial cooperation.
Work Experience
At least five years of professional experience in technical cooperation or portfolio project management, with international exposure, is required. Ability to independently research, analyze information, and recommend solutions is required. Ability to write clearly and concisely is required. Experience in evaluating needs, conditions, and problems in developing countries, particularly within Montreal Protocol projects, is desirable. Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and knowledge of development agencies, donor communities, private sector, government, and relevant institutions are desirable.
