Organizational Context
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) promotes inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) in Member States. This role supports a food safety project in Liberia aimed at enhancing food safety practices and compliance along selected value chains, boosting trade and safe consumption of local produce, and improving food and nutrition security. The project addresses outcomes at macro, meso, and micro levels, focusing on regulatory frameworks, institutional environments, and producer/consumer compliance.
Job Purpose
To provide administrative and financial support for a UNIDO food safety project in Liberia, ensuring efficient project implementation and compliance with UNIDO rules and donor requirements.
Responsibilities
Process financial transactions (invoices, purchase orders, payments); manage participant allowances; maintain financial records in ERP system; assist with budget preparation and monitoring; handle petty cash; coordinate logistics including procurement and event planning; assist with recruitment and onboarding; facilitate travel arrangements; support capacity-building activities; act as liaison between project site and headquarters; assist in risk assessment; ensure compliance with policies and donor requirements; facilitate audits; maintain equipment inventories; provide input for reports; carry out ad-hoc assignments; maintain files and databases.
Work Experience
Minimum of 8 years of related work experience is required. Experience in office procedures and practices, preferably within the UN system or multicultural environments, is desirable. Experience in project administration, accounting, and finance is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet required. Experience with SAP or similar ERP software is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in financial transaction processing, budget monitoring, petty cash management, logistics coordination, and administrative support. Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulations. Strong organizational and communication skills. Familiarity with UNIDO's ERP system or similar. Competent in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
