Organizational Context

The ability of the Supply and Logistics Officer to successfully plan, manage and oversee the effective and efficient supply chain management of goods, services and construction works for UNICEF programmes and the Government, directly impact on program goals and results for children. This in turn contributes to maintaining/enhancing the credibility of UNICEF as an effective and responsible manager of funds entrusted to the organization and to furthering UNICEF image as a competent organization for delivering cost effective and sustainable program results for children.

Job Purpose

The Supply and Logistics Officer is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing the effective and efficient supply chain management of goods, services, and construction works for UNICEF programmes and the Government. This role is critical in ensuring that program goals and results for children are achieved. By successfully managing the supply chain, the officer contributes to maintaining and enhancing UNICEF's credibility as an effective and responsible steward of entrusted funds. Furthermore, this position plays a key role in furthering UNICEF's image as a competent organization capable of delivering cost-effective and sustainable program results that benefit children. The officer's work directly impacts the timely availability of essential supplies and services, thereby supporting the overall mission of UNICEF to advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

Plan, manage, and oversee the supply chain management of goods, services, and construction works for UNICEF programmes and the Government. Ensure the effective and efficient execution of supply chain operations, including procurement, logistics, warehousing, and distribution. Monitor and evaluate supply chain performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and government counterparts to ensure timely delivery and quality of goods and services. Manage budgets related to supply chain activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial regulations. Provide technical guidance and support to UNICEF staff and implementing partners on supply chain matters. Ensure compliance with UNICEF's policies, procedures, and ethical standards in all supply chain activities. Contribute to the development and implementation of supply chain strategies and plans. Prepare regular reports on supply chain operations, performance, and challenges. Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain to ensure continuity of operations and program delivery. Support emergency preparedness and response efforts by ensuring the availability of essential supplies and services.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of professional experience in supply chain management, logistics, procurement, or a related area is required. Experience working in a developing country context or with international organizations is an asset.
