Job Purpose
The Inclusive Social Protection and Training Expert Consultant will provide critical technical expertise and capacity-building support to UNICEF’s inclusive social protection portfolio. This role will focus on developing and delivering training on gender-responsive social protection, particularly in Asia and Africa. The assignment will involve supporting activities related to strengthening inclusive social protection systems, with an emphasis on the intersections with care and support, climate resilience, and child marriage prevention. The consultant is expected to possess a strong combination of deep technical knowledge in social protection systems and gender equality, alongside functional expertise in analysis, training, capacity building, technical assistance, and the development of technical resources.
Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise and capacity-building support to UNICEF’s inclusive social protection portfolio, with a focus on capacity-building and training on gender-responsive social protection in Asia and Africa. Support the delivery of activities on gender-responsive social protection, including thematic areas of inclusive social protection systems strengthening and the intersection with care and support, climate resilience and child marriage prevention. Develop and deliver training modules and materials for government counterparts and partners on inclusive and gender-responsive social protection. Conduct analysis of existing social protection systems and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, particularly concerning gender equality and child well-being. Provide technical assistance to UNICEF country offices and partners in the design and implementation of inclusive social protection programs. Develop technical resources, guidelines, and best practice documents to support UNICEF’s work in social protection. Engage substantively and credibly with a range of stakeholders, including UN agencies, government counterparts, and civil society organizations. Ensure high-quality outputs are delivered within agreed timelines, demonstrating deep analytical ability and capacity to translate complex concepts into digestible recommendations and guidance.
Work Experience
Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience, including experience working in Asia and Africa. Demonstrated experience in technical advising on inclusive social protection systems strengthening, capacity building and training facilitation, analysis, and resource development.
