Job Purpose
The WASH Officer (NO-2) position, based in Kharkiv, Ukraine, supports the UNICEF Country Programme by providing technical, operational, and administrative assistance for the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programming process. The role involves preparing, managing, and implementing tasks related to the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH output results. The officer's contributions are crucial for achieving the country programme's WASH-related objectives, ultimately aiming to improve child survival, growth, and development, and reduce inequalities within the country. This position is essential for strengthening the WASH component of the Country Programme in the Kharkiv Field Office.
Responsibilities
The WASH Officer will be responsible for programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and equity focus. They will manage, monitor, and deliver results for WASH programmes, providing essential technical and operational support for their implementation. A key area of responsibility includes supporting WASH infrastructure development, which involves preparing technical documentation, overseeing procurement processes, and supervising construction activities. The officer will also play a vital role in humanitarian WASH preparedness and response efforts, ensuring timely and effective interventions. Furthermore, they will be tasked with networking and building partnerships with relevant stakeholders to enhance programme reach and impact. Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the WASH sector will also be integral to the role, contributing to the sustainability and effectiveness of UNICEF's WASH interventions in Ukraine.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), Water supply, Sanitation, Hygiene, WASH infrastructure, or WASH-related programmes for developing countries and any other related fields.
