Job Purpose

The consultant will lead the design and validation of a community-based protection methodology to prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV) affecting girls, boys, and adolescents in emergency-affected contexts. The role involves strengthening protection factors at individual, family, and community levels, promoting safe, inclusive, and resilient environments. Additionally, the consultant will support capacity building for UNICEF and its implementing partners to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the strategy, with a focus on adolescent leadership, empowerment, and the transformation of harmful social and gender norms.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and validation of a community-based protection methodology for preventing and responding to GBV affecting children in emergency contexts. Strengthen protection factors at individual, family, and community levels to promote safe, inclusive, and resilient environments. Support capacity building for UNICEF and implementing partners on the effective implementation and monitoring of the protection strategy. Emphasize adolescent leadership and empowerment, and the transformation of harmful social and gender norms. Develop tools, guides, training materials, and methodological resources. Coordinate and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including implementing partners, community organizations, and humanitarian actors. Ensure the methodology is contextually relevant and addresses the specific needs of children affected by emergencies. Facilitate processes for strengthening capacities and developing methodological strategies for child protection with a gender focus. Contribute to knowledge management and sharing of lessons learned from the implementation of the methodology.

Work Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in child protection, gender-based violence (GBV), institutional strengthening, or related areas. Demonstrated experience in designing and facilitating capacity-building processes and developing methodological strategies for child protection with a gender focus. Experience in humanitarian, emergency, or community development contexts.
