Job Purpose
As a Supply and Procurement Officer (NOB) in Malawi, you will be instrumental in strengthening UNICEF Malawi’s procurement and supply chain functions to ensure the timely delivery of programmes. Your role will involve supporting supply planning, developing sourcing strategies, managing Long-Term Arrangements, and overseeing procurement services, including offshore procurement. You will provide essential technical guidance to government counterparts and implementing partners, diligently monitor procurement pipelines and supplier/contract performance, and ensure the efficient delivery of goods and services. A key aspect of your work will be to reinforce internal controls, enhance risk management, and ensure strict compliance with UNICEF policies and procedures, actively contributing to the fight against fraud and corruption. In emergency situations, you will be crucial in supporting preparedness and rapid procurement responses, ultimately contributing to efficient, accountable, cost-effective, and sustainable supply operations that yield positive results for children in Malawi.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include providing robust support for supply planning and implementation, ensuring that all supply chain activities align with programme objectives and timelines. You will conduct thorough procurement and market research to identify the best value for money and ensure compliance with UNICEF’s procurement policies. A significant part of the role involves coordinating closely with programme teams and partners to ensure seamless integration of supply chain activities with programme delivery. You will also provide dedicated procurement services support to government partners, building their capacity and ensuring efficient processes. Furthermore, you will be responsible for supervising and coaching team members, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring that expected outcomes are met. This includes monitoring procurement pipelines, managing supplier and contract performance, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services. You will also play a critical role in strengthening internal controls, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with UNICEF policies and procedures, actively working to combat fraud and corruption. In emergency contexts, you will support preparedness and rapid procurement response efforts, ensuring UNICEF can effectively meet urgent needs. Through capacity building and collaborative efforts with programme teams, suppliers, partners, and government counterparts, you will contribute to efficient, accountable, cost-effective, and sustainable supply operations that deliver tangible results for children in Malawi.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Supply Management, Administration, Procurement Management, Supply Planning, Vendor Assessment, Risk Management, Performance Monitoring, Stakeholder Coordination, Capacity Building, Technical Support, Government Engagement, Humanitarian Programming, Data-Driven Planning, or Compliance Frameworks.
