Job Purpose

The Evaluation Officer is responsible for implementing evaluations of the Country Programme’s Costed Evaluation Plan and other required evaluations. This role provides professional expertise to achieve key end-results, supports communication and partnerships, and designs/implements capacity development activities to strengthen national evaluation capacity. The officer also coordinates office-wide knowledge management, promoting good practices in evaluation use and fostering an evaluation culture within the Jordan Country Office. The position contributes to evidence-informed decision-making and programme improvement across various UNICEF sectors.

Responsibilities

The Evaluation Officer manages the planning, design, implementation, and follow-up of evaluation activities across the country office. This includes coordinating with other agencies and engaging with national and international stakeholders to ensure the delivery and use of high-quality evaluations. The role adheres to UNICEF’s Evaluation Policy, evaluation and ethics procedures, and recognized professional norms and standards, including the 2016 UN Evaluation Group Norms and Standards for Evaluation. Key functions include: Evaluation Planning, Management, and Implementation; Evaluation design and implementation; promoting Evaluation use; and Coordination, Networking, and Evaluation Capacity Development. The officer ensures that evaluations are conducted independently and provide valuable insights for programme enhancement and accountability.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of professional experience in evaluation or related fields is required. Experience in a developing country context is an asset.
