Job Purpose
The Chief, Child Protection, P-4, will provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for the development, implementation, and monitoring of child protection programs in Malaysia. This role involves fostering partnerships with government, donors, UN agencies, the private sector, and business partners to influence national policies and strengthen child protection systems. The objective is to ensure every child is protected, included, healthy, learning, and able to realize their full potential, contributing to the Malaysia MADANI framework and the 13th Malaysia Plan. A special focus will be placed on supporting the Government in implementing the CRC Concluding Observations and Recommendations from 2026, aiming to enhance the protection environment for children in Malaysia and support national development aspirations.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of child protection programs to achieve concrete and sustainable results that support national efforts to strengthen the protection environment for children in Malaysia. Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for program development and implementation. Foster and build strategic partnerships with government entities, civil society organizations (CSOs/NGOs), and business partners to ensure UNICEF's added value and support the government's development goals. Focus on implementing the CRC Concluding Observations and Recommendations from 2026. Drive innovation to strengthen child protection systems and policies. Ensure that programs contribute to national development priorities, particularly for children. Manage program resources effectively and report on progress and outcomes. Collaborate with other UN agencies and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to child protection. Contribute to advocacy efforts for the rights of children in Malaysia. Oversee the team's performance and professional development.
Work Experience
At least 8 years of relevant work experience in Programme, Child Protection, Development, Human Rights, International Development, Research, Partnerships, Child Online Protection, Alternative Care, or any other related fields.
