Job Purpose
The Partnership Manager's purpose is to deepen collaboration with key stakeholders, serving as an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence. This role may also act as a focal point and resource for colleagues on specific thematic areas crucial for partnership development. The primary objective is to enhance UNICEF's visibility and influence in support of its mission. At the P4 level, this position requires an authoritative expert in partnership development, responsible not only for executing work plans but also for supporting senior management in policy direction and design. The incumbent is expected to regularly develop original and innovative approaches to advance the profession and address complex, non-standard challenges.
Responsibilities
Support senior management in establishing annual work plans, setting priorities, targets, and performance measurements. Monitor work progress for the managed unit, ensuring results are achieved according to schedule and performance standards. Establish clear individual performance objectives, goals, and timelines for team members, providing timely guidance for efficient and responsible duty performance. Lead the work plan for the assigned area to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of results aligned with UNICEF’s partnership strategy. Seek and promote new partnerships and resource mobilization opportunities, collaborating with UNICEF colleagues to identify needs and broker resource mobilization agreements. Screen inquiries from potential collaborators and facilitate communication with appropriate UNICEF staff. Scan and scout the external environment within the designated partnership area for opportunities and risks, sharing information promptly with relevant UNICEF staff. Provide strategic, logistical, and programmatic support to senior management and other UNICEF staff in corporate engagement and interaction with assigned partners. Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of current and prospective partners and relevant stakeholders, contributing to a database of key contacts and UNICEF’s knowledge base on partnership and resource mobilization. Expand UNICEF’s network of key interlocutors to build stronger relationships with governments, decision-makers, regional development institutions, foundations, civil society organizations, international financial institutions, and other relevant constituencies. Develop and implement annual partnership engagement and resource mobilization plans. Act as a focal point for identifying and pursuing opportunities for outreach, engagement, policy influence, and collaboration, including anticipating and responding to partners' concerns and priorities, ensuring UNICEF’s interests, perspectives, and knowledge are considered in relevant policy and institutional processes, and that partners are aware of UNICEF’s perspectives, policies, priorities, and capabilities. Contribute to the development of new partnership and resource mobilization practices and approaches by formulating recommendations based on ongoing monitoring, analysis of current trends within designated partners, and strategy development.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in partnership development, resource mobilization, or a related field, with a proven track record of managing complex projects and engaging with diverse stakeholders. Experience in the UN system or a similar international organization is an asset.
