The Programme Effectiveness team in Eritrea supports the Country Office in effective programme design, coordination, and management through evidence-informed planning, multisectoral coordination, and strategic communication.
Job Purpose
The Programme Internship (open for Eritreans only) aims to provide support to the Programme Effectiveness team within the UNICEF Eritrea Country Office (ECO). The intern will assist in the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of cross-sectoral initiatives for a duration of three months. This role is designed to offer practical experience in programme support, research, data collection, coordination, and knowledge management within a humanitarian and development context, contributing to the ECO's efforts to achieve its programme objectives and ensure effective delivery of services for children.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist in conducting research and collating information relevant to UNICEF's work in Eritrea. They will support data collection and validation from programme sections, particularly for activities related to Basic Service Response Priorities (BSRP), Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC), and humanitarian grants. The role involves assisting in the coordination of multisectoral preparedness and response efforts, including gathering inputs, drafting meeting notes, and engaging with programme teams. Support will be provided to the ECO Cross-Sectoral Task Force through documentation and assistance with workplans and monitoring frameworks. The intern will also contribute to knowledge management initiatives and monitor programme implementation. Data analysis and visualization will be undertaken in collaboration with PME teams. Monitoring the implementation of workplans, action plans, and grants is also a key responsibility. Additionally, the intern will assist in preparing presentations, briefing notes, reports, and factsheets, and provide logistical support for coordination meetings, workshops, trainings, and events, as well as support ad hoc Programme Effectiveness initiatives.
Work Experience
Previous relevant work or volunteer experience is considered an asset.
