Job Purpose
The consultant will support the Communication and Advocacy Specialist in enhancing the visibility of UNICEF's programs, results, and partnerships in Benin. This involves documenting field activities, producing compelling stories and multimedia content, and highlighting the contributions of partners and key stakeholders. The role requires ethical storytelling, adherence to UNICEF's child protection policies, and creating content tailored for various digital and institutional platforms. The consultant will also assist in communicating high-priority events and activities, ensuring effective outreach and engagement with target audiences.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Communication and Advocacy Specialist, the consultant will develop an editorial calendar identifying priority opportunities for program, results, and partner visibility. They will conduct approved field missions to gather testimonials, interviews, photographs, and videos, documenting program outcomes. The consultant will produce impact stories, field narratives, portraits, interviews, photo essays, and video clips showcasing UNICEF and partner actions. Ethical documentation of experiences of children, adolescents, families, communities, and local authorities involved in UNICEF-supported programs is crucial. Content will be adapted for UNICEF's digital platforms, newsletters, advocacy materials, institutional communications, and partner visibility requirements. The consultant will also develop targeted partner valorization products, clearly presenting their contributions, results, and beneficiaries. Support will be provided for communication around events involving UNICEF ambassadors or influencers. They will ensure the preparation, logistical support, coverage, and valorization of communication for key UNICEF-validated activities. Strict adherence to UNICEF rules on child protection, informed consent, ethical storytelling, data protection, image use, and visual identity is mandatory. All content must be submitted for prior UNICEF validation before external diffusion.
Work Experience
At least five years of relevant professional experience in communication, journalism, photography, videography, multimedia storytelling, public relations, or event management. Demonstrated experience in producing quality written, photographic, and/or audiovisual content for development, social, humanitarian, or human rights programs. Experience in ethical documentation of activities involving communities, children, adolescents, or vulnerable populations, and in organizing public events.
Skills
