Job Purpose
This role contributes to UNICEF’s global efforts in preventing and responding to public health emergencies, such as cholera and waterborne diseases. The incumbent will support Country Offices and partners in strengthening Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP). By providing technical assistance, facilitating knowledge sharing, building capacity, and fostering strategic collaboration with governments and partners, the position directly supports UNICEF’s mission to achieve lasting impact for children in challenging environments. The work involves translating global strategies into practical solutions, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring sustainable programme results for children and communities worldwide.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support and guidance for the design and implementation of emergency preparedness and response efforts, focusing on innovative Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) and Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) approaches to prevent disease outbreaks and protect vulnerable populations. Facilitate capacity building and knowledge management activities for Country Offices, partners, and governments on effective RCCE and AAP strategies. Support emergency preparedness and response operations by providing timely and relevant technical assistance. Develop and strengthen partnerships with governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance WASH and public health outcomes. Monitor, report on, and learn from programme implementation, ensuring that UNICEF’s interventions generate meaningful and sustainable results. Drive innovation and evidence generation in social and behavior change programming related to WASH and public health emergencies. Contribute to global WASH and public health initiatives by sharing best practices and lessons learned from country-level work.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in emergency Social and Behavior Change (SBC) or Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) programming with a focus on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) is required.
