Job Purpose
The Child Protection Officer (NO-B) TA will support the effective implementation of the community-based child protection component, contributing to improved access to quality child protection services for vulnerable children and families at the community level. This role is crucial in strengthening community-based child protection mechanisms by enhancing the capacity of frontline social service workers, Child Protection Service Hubs, and community structures. The incumbent will ensure these entities can effectively identify, refer, and respond to child protection concerns, thereby improving case management and overall child protection service delivery. The position aligns with UNICEF's fundamental mission to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, and its equity strategy, focusing on the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families.
Responsibilities
Support the effective implementation of the community-based child protection component, ensuring improved access to quality child protection services for vulnerable children and families at the community level. Work closely with the Department of Social Services (DSS), UNICEF colleagues, and implementing partners to strengthen community-based child protection mechanisms. Enhance the capacity of frontline social service workers, Child Protection Service Hubs, and community structures to identify, refer, and respond to child protection concerns. Support case management processes and ensure timely and appropriate responses to child protection issues. Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies and interventions aimed at preventing and responding to child protection violations. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community-based child protection activities, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement. Facilitate knowledge sharing and learning among stakeholders involved in child protection. Ensure that UNICEF's equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, is integrated into all child protection programming.
Work Experience
Two years of relevant professional experience in child protection, social work, or a related field. Experience working with government counterparts and NGOs is an asset.
