Job Purpose
The Deputy Representative, reporting to the Country Representative, serves as the principal advisor for the overall management of the Country Office (CO), including the development of CO policies and strategies. Under delegated authority, they are responsible for coordinating and managing all phases of the CO Programme, from formulation to the delivery of results, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, performance standards, accountability framework, ethics, and integrity. This role is crucial in leading and leveraging partnerships with public and private sectors to achieve results and uphold children's rights. In humanitarian contexts, the Deputy Representative is accountable for the timely, efficient, and principled delivery of humanitarian programmes.
Responsibilities
The Deputy Representative is accountable for CO Programme planning and development, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and country-specific needs. They provide essential support to the Representative in managing the Country Office, overseeing daily operations and strategic direction. A key function is the monitoring and quality control of Programmes, ensuring effective implementation and achievement of results. The role involves significant representation, alliance building, and UN System coordination, fostering collaboration with government, civil society, and other UN agencies. Private sector engagement and partnerships are vital for resource mobilization and programme support. Furthermore, the Deputy Representative drives innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the CO, promoting best practices and continuous learning to enhance programme effectiveness and impact for children.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of professional development experience that combines technical and managerial expertise is required.
