International Consultant - Technical Support for Advancing Climate Resilient Sanitation Services in the Caribbean Region

Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide specialized technical expertise to UNICEF and participating Caribbean countries to advance climate-resilient safely managed sanitation. This will be achieved through the development of climate-finance and investment products, providing technical support for the implementation of country roadmaps, analyzing regional enabling environments, and documenting evidence and lessons learned. The goal is to inform UNICEF and partner programming, ultimately contributing to improved sanitation services that can withstand and recover from catastrophic climate events, protecting the health and economy of the Caribbean region.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing climate-finance and investment products tailored to the Caribbean context for sanitation services. They will provide direct technical support to UNICEF and Caribbean countries in implementing their respective climate-resilient sanitation roadmaps. This includes analyzing the existing regional enabling environments for sanitation, identifying barriers and opportunities for improvement, and proposing strategies to overcome them. Furthermore, the consultant will be tasked with documenting evidence, best practices, and lessons learned from the initiative. This documentation will be crucial for informing future UNICEF and partner programming in climate-resilient sanitation. The role involves engaging with stakeholders at regional and national levels to foster collaboration and ensure the effective advancement of safely managed sanitation services across the Caribbean.
Work Experience
At least 10 years of experience in leading the development and delivery of safely managed sanitation programs at a regional scale or higher. Demonstrated experience integrating climate resilience into sanitation or WASH programs. Proven experience in providing technical support or capacity building to experts at regional or multi-country levels. Abilities in engaging with and leveraging funds from Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and Development Partners (DPs) for the sanitation sector.
