Job Purpose

The purpose of this consultancy is to support the Child Protection and Development Data Unit (CPDD) within UNICEF's Office of Strategy and Evidence - Innocenti. The consultant will focus on developing and disseminating various communications and outreach products related to a new international statistical classification of alternative care of children, known as ICare. These products are crucial for the next phase of work, aiming to ensure effective and strategic visibility and uptake of the ICare classification. The role involves creating a comprehensive communications plan, developing strategic communication materials such as video scripts and blog posts, managing digital content for a dedicated microsite, and utilizing analytics to optimize visibility and engagement. The consultant will also support event-based communications and advocacy efforts to maximize the impact of the ICare initiative.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan for the ICare classification, outlining key activities, outputs, and timelines to ensure strategic visibility and outreach. Prepare and draft strategic communications and outreach products, including video scripts and blog posts, that effectively communicate the importance and application of the ICare classification. Assist in the creation and management of digital content for a dedicated ICare microsite on data.unicef.org, ensuring message consistency, branding, and a positive user experience. Coordinate with vendors for the development and launch of the microsite. Utilize SEO and analytics tools to optimize digital assets for enhanced visibility, search relevance, and sustained user engagement. Feed content into UNICEF's global communication channels to broaden reach. Measure and evaluate the performance of communication activities using data-driven insights to inform continuous improvement strategies. Support outreach and communications efforts before, during, and after key ICare-related events, including an online foundational training. This may involve producing compelling outreach and advocacy materials and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and maximize impact.

Work Experience

At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in data-focused communication roles, with demonstrated success in advocacy and outreach within multilateral or UN contexts.
