Job Purpose
The consultant will provide expert technical assistance across five interrelated workstreams to support the Digital Education and AI-Enabled Teaching and Learning Companion Programme. This role involves programme management, coordination, and technical oversight, ensuring the effective deployment and integration of AI Teacher Companion tools. The consultant will also coordinate teacher professional development initiatives, focusing on equipping educators with the skills to leverage AI in their teaching practices. Furthermore, the position requires coordination of programme monitoring, learning, and research activities to assess impact and inform future strategies. Finally, the consultant will contribute to system strengthening, government engagement, communications, and scale-up planning to ensure the sustainability and wider adoption of digital education solutions.
Responsibilities
1. Programme Management, Coordination, and Technical Oversight: Provide overall leadership and coordination for the programme, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and deliverables. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively. Provide technical guidance on digital education and AI integration. 2. AI Teacher Companion Technical Coordination and Deployment Support: Oversee the technical aspects of the AI Teacher Companion, including its deployment, configuration, and adaptation. Collaborate with technology providers and partners to ensure successful implementation and user support. 3. Teacher Professional Development Coordination: Develop and coordinate training programs for teachers on utilizing AI-enabled tools and digital pedagogy. Ensure that professional development initiatives are relevant, effective, and scalable. 4. Programme Monitoring, Learning, and Research Coordination: Establish and manage a robust monitoring and evaluation framework to track programme progress and impact. Facilitate learning processes and coordinate research activities to generate evidence on the effectiveness of AI in education. 5. System Strengthening, Government Engagement, Communications, and Scale-up Planning: Engage with government ministries, local authorities, and other stakeholders to promote the adoption of digital education strategies. Develop communication materials and strategies to disseminate programme findings and best practices. Contribute to the development of scale-up plans for successful interventions.
Work Experience
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in digital education, education technology, teacher professional development, AI-enabled learning solutions, or education systems strengthening. Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder education programmes and supporting the design, implementation, or scale-up of AI-enabled education interventions.
