Job Purpose
The Immunization Specialist is accountable for professional leadership and contribution to the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of the Immunization programme within the country. This role supports Child Survival and Development, Maternal and Child Health, and Health and Nutrition components to achieve UNICEF's immunization plus goals. The specialist ensures the programme promotes gender equality by focusing on gender disaggregation, disparity identification, and mainstreaming. This position requires timely sectoral analysis, input, support, and coordination for effective project planning and development, integrating sex-disaggregated data. The role involves developing and implementing immunization strategies, providing technical support, and ensuring timely delivery of planned results through strong technical leadership.
Responsibilities
The Immunization Specialist will contribute to the Situation Analysis with consistent integration of sex-disaggregated data and its periodic update for effective project planning, development, and management. Quality contributions will be made to the development and implementation of Immunization strategies and approaches through participation and collaboration with internal and external partners. Work plans and objectives will be strategically established, technical support effectively provided, and planned results timely delivered through strong technical leadership. Project implementation progress will be monitored and evaluated for adjustment, acceleration, and improvement of program delivery and sustainability. Technical support will be provided to government and NGOs at all stages of programme cooperation, including capacity building of government personnel and beneficiaries. The capacities of Country Office staff will be strengthened through effective capacity building programmes in the development, implementation, and management of the Immunization Programme. UNICEF and Government accountability will be ensured for supply and non-supply assistance and disbursement of programme funds for the sector. Effective partnership and collaboration will be achieved and maintained for advocacy, technical cooperation, programme coordination, information sharing, and knowledge networking. The most relevant and strategic information will be provided to support the Immunization Programme through the effective implementation of the monitoring system. All required programme reports will be timely prepared in compliance with established guidelines and procedures. Emergency preparedness will be maintained, and in emergencies, effective emergency responses with coordination will be provided. Other assigned duties and responsibilities will be effectively performed.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in nutrition, health, immunization programs, public health, maternal and child health, health systems strengthening, program management, health policy, or any other related fields. Professional work experience in a technical expert position related to child survival & health care is required.
