Job Purpose

The Education Officer, NO-2, in Lviv, Ukraine, will support the implementation and monitoring of education programmes to ensure every child has the right to quality, equitable, and inclusive learning opportunities. Guided by UNICEF’s global mission and equity-focused approach, the position will focus on ensuring vulnerable and disadvantaged children can access education and reach their full potential. The incumbent will provide technical, operational, and administrative support across the programme cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, in close collaboration with government counterparts, NGOs, UN agencies, donors, and other stakeholders. This role is crucial for strengthening education responses and supporting recovery and development efforts in Ukraine, contributing to sustainable results that improve learning outcomes and expand access to quality education.

Responsibilities

The Education Officer will provide support to programme development and planning, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and the needs of children in Ukraine. They will manage programmes, monitor their progress, and ensure the delivery of results, contributing to the overall effectiveness of UNICEF's education initiatives. The role involves participating in technical and operational support for programme implementation, working closely with partners to ensure successful execution. Networking and partnership building are key, fostering strong relationships with government bodies, NGOs, UN agencies, and donors to enhance collaboration and resource mobilization. Furthermore, the incumbent will drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector, sharing best practices and promoting continuous improvement. This includes conducting field visits, contributing to evidence-based planning and reporting, and supporting initiatives that promote learning outcomes and equitable access to education for all children.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in education, programme management, research, programme planning, or related fields is required.
