Job Purpose
The Communication Specialist is accountable for developing, managing, coordinating, networking, implementing, and monitoring advocacy and communication strategies and associated products and activities. The goal is to target and influence relevant audiences, including the public, to build child rights champions. This is achieved by promoting awareness, understanding, support, and respect for children’s and women’s rights, and support for UNICEF's mission, priorities, and programmes in the State of Palestine and at a global level, as well as among the UN Country Team. The role is crucial in shaping public perception and garnering support for UNICEF's work in a complex and challenging environment.
Responsibilities
The Communication Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies, overseeing digital content production, managing media relations, and fostering networking and partnerships. This includes coordinating celebrity and special events, aligning activities with global priorities and campaigns, and providing support for resource mobilization. The role also involves management duties, monitoring and evaluation of communication efforts, and capacity building and support for staff and partners. Key functions include creating and disseminating compelling content, engaging with media outlets, building relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring that communication activities effectively support UNICEF's mandate and objectives in the State of Palestine, particularly in the context of protracted conflict and humanitarian needs.
Work Experience
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communication, print, broadcast, and/or new media. Field work experience and familiarity with emergency situations are required.
