Job Purpose
Under the guidance of the Chief Field Office, the Education Officer will provide technical, operational, and administrative support throughout the education programming cycle in the Far North region of Cameroon. This role ensures that education interventions are integrated with other UNICEF programs (WASH, child protection, social protection), are adaptive to emergencies and climate risks, and are inclusive, prioritizing girls, displaced children, and children with disabilities. The officer will support data analysis, progress reporting, and ensure alignment with programme goals, contributing to improved quality of learning and climate-resilient learning environments, especially for children in hard-to-reach areas.
Responsibilities
Support the planning, situation analysis, and results-based design of education programmes using relevant data and evidence. Contribute to the implementation, monitoring, reporting, and follow-up of programmes to ensure timely delivery of results. Coordinate effectively with UNICEF colleagues, government counterparts, implementing partners, UN agencies, donors, and other stakeholders. Monitor the utilization of programme resources and ensure compliance with UNICEF procedures, donor commitments, and accountability standards. Identify implementation challenges, propose viable solutions, and document lessons learned to enhance programme performance. Provide technical and operational guidance to partners on UNICEF education policies, strategies, standards, and best practices. Support field visits, programme reviews, reporting, and evidence-based decision-making, including in challenging, hard-to-reach areas. Strengthen partnerships, advocacy efforts, and resource mobilization for inclusive, climate-resilient, and emergency-responsive education initiatives. Promote innovation, knowledge management, capacity building among partners, and contribute to sustainable learning outcomes for children and adolescents.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of relevant work experience in Monitoring and Evaluation, Education, quality education, inclusive education, education in emergencies, climate-resilient learning environments, or related fields.
