Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide specialized knowledge management, communications, and advocacy expertise to strengthen the newly established UNICEF Health Economics and Financing (HEF) Section. This section is crucial for consolidating, harmonizing, and strategically positioning evidence and expertise in child health financing, aligning with UNICEF's new Strategic Plan. The role involves managing a repository of evidence, facilitating knowledge exchange, and building staff capacity in HEF. The consultancy aims to produce defined knowledge management, communications, and advocacy products, leveraging the HEF Specialists Placement Initiative (HEF SPI) and the HEF Lab to amplify impact across global offices and with external partners.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for several key areas. In Knowledge Management, this includes maintaining and refreshing the roster of health economics and financing experts, ensuring it remains deployment-ready. They will keep the HEF Repository current by integrating new products and establishing content governance, tracking usage across offices. The consultant will also build templates and a searchable log for capturing lessons from technical reviews and conduct a pilot cycle. Furthermore, they will design a recurring format for knowledge exchange, secure participants, and convene an inaugural session. Management of knowledge products generated through the HEF SPI, including using AI for stakeholder dissemination, is also a key responsibility. In Communications, the consultant will develop an annual editorial calendar and draft, coordinate, and disseminate a recurring HEF newsletter.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in knowledge management, communications, and advocacy, preferably within the health sector or international development. Experience with UNICEF or other UN agencies is an asset.
