Job Purpose

The WASH Specialist (WASH-CEE) NOC GJP is to be used in the Quetta Field Office, where the WASH Programme is a major component of the Country Programme. The Specialist supports the development, preparation, management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the WASH & CEE programmes within the country programme. The role provides technical guidance and management support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of WASH & CEE related output results. This position is crucial for advancing UNICEF's mission to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, by ensuring equitable access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, and addressing climate, energy, and environment issues.

Responsibilities

The WASH Specialist is accountable for supporting the development, planning, management, monitoring, and delivery of results for WASH & CEE programmes. This includes providing technical and operational support for programme implementation, ensuring effective humanitarian WASH preparedness and response, and building strong networks and partnerships. The Specialist will also focus on innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the WASH and CEE sectors. Key responsibilities include contributing to programme development and planning, managing programme activities to achieve output results, offering technical guidance on WASH and CEE interventions, and coordinating emergency WASH preparedness and response efforts. Furthermore, the role involves fostering partnerships with government bodies, NGOs, and other stakeholders, and promoting knowledge sharing and capacity development among partners and UNICEF staff.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and/or international levels on WASH is required. Demonstrated extensive capacity in at least four WASH programming areas, influencing national government WASH policies, and WASH emergency preparedness and response is essential. Experience collaborating with international financial institutions is also required.
