Organizational Context

The Country Office delivers integrated, lifesaving, and resilience-building programmes across various sectors, focusing on equity and reaching vulnerable populations.

Job Purpose

The Social & Behavior Change (SBC) Coordinator provides technical and operational support for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of SBC interventions across all programme sectors. This role is crucial for strengthening community engagement, supporting behavior change initiatives, and enhancing accountability mechanisms, ensuring alignment with UNICEF programme priorities and standards. The SBC function is a cross-sectoral programme effectiveness output that supports all sectors in generating demand for services, addressing behavioral barriers, and ensuring accountability to affected populations (AAP), playing a critical role in both development programming and emergency response through Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE), social listening, and community feedback.

Responsibilities

Support the development and operationalization of evidence-based SBC strategies and plans across programme sectors. Contribute to situation analysis, including behavioral, social, and cultural assessments. Lead the integration of SBC approaches into programme design and planning processes. Lead the implementation of SBC activities in collaboration with partners and stakeholders. Lead community engagement initiatives and outreach activities. Ensure effective communication and advocacy for SBC interventions. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SBC activities, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement. Build capacity of partners and staff on SBC principles and practices. Foster strong partnerships with government counterparts, NGOs, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of SBC strategies. Contribute to resource mobilization efforts for SBC programmes. Ensure that SBC interventions are gender-sensitive, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable groups, including children and adolescents.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of professional experience in Social and Behavior Change (SBC) communication, public health, or a related field, with experience in programme planning, implementation, and monitoring.
