Job Purpose
To provide technical support to UNICEF's education section in Colombia for the design, implementation, and documentation of an early childhood education quality improvement strategy. This strategy must align with national technical references and curriculum frameworks, as well as the progress of national and regional offices. It will also incorporate developments in early literacy, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and essential early childhood learning.
Responsibilities
The consultant will support the design, implementation, and documentation of an early childhood education quality improvement strategy in Colombia. This involves ensuring alignment with national technical references and curriculum frameworks, and integrating progress from national and regional offices. Key areas of focus include early literacy, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and essential early childhood learning. The role requires providing technical assistance to the education area of UNICEF Colombia, contributing to the appropriation of curricular and pedagogical guidelines for early childhood education. Special attention will be given to strategies for resilience and inclusive education (UDL), particularly in territories affected by conflict and migration. The consultant will also consider progress and experiences in early literacy and the definition of essential early childhood learning. This includes developing and documenting the strategy, potentially producing guidelines or pedagogical orientations for early childhood educators, and facilitating training or knowledge transfer for education officials, teachers, and early childhood agents.
Work Experience
15 years in early childhood education programs, including policy/program/strategy development in Colombia, experience with national/local governments, producing pedagogical guidelines, and training early childhood educators.
