Job Purpose

The purpose of this consultancy is to produce a defined set of analytical and knowledge products during the ECAMENA transition. This includes developing a workshop report, conducting reviews of specific evidence products, documenting selected survey innovations, creating a practical transition note, and producing research papers focused on MICS innovations in the MENA region. The assignment is time-bound and directly linked to the deliverables and deadlines outlined in the Work Assignment Overview. The consultant will play a crucial role in synthesizing data and research to support UNICEF's strategic objectives in the region, contributing to the evidence base for child-related SDGs and program development.

Responsibilities

The consultant will be responsible for producing a comprehensive workshop report detailing key discussions, outcomes, and recommendations from the ECAMENA transition workshop. They will conduct thorough reviews of specific evidence products, providing critical analysis and feedback. The consultant will document selected survey innovations, highlighting best practices and lessons learned. A practical transition note will be developed to guide future initiatives. Furthermore, the consultant will research and write papers on MICS innovations in the MENA region, aiming for publication quality. This includes data analysis, synthesis of findings, and clear articulation of results. The consultant will also provide technical support to governments and UN country teams as needed, ensuring alignment with child-related SDGs and UNICEF's mandate. Adherence to deadlines and quality standards for all deliverables is paramount.

Work Experience

At least 15 years of experience in quantitative research, data analytics, household survey methodology, or related applied research fields. Demonstrated experience producing methodological reviews, analytical review notes, or peer-review style comments on complex evidence products. Experience with child-focused statistics, household surveys, MICS or similar survey programmes, and national data ecosystems is required.
