Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Child Protection Section, this role is crucial for coordinating and strengthening Haiti’s Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism (MRM). The specialist will ensure sustained and effective monitoring of grave violations against children (CAAC) across Field and Regional Offices. This involves managing MRM information and reporting, including the receipt, analysis, compilation, and transmission of relevant data to the Chief of Child Protection for validation before submission to the MRM Technical Working Group and CTFMR Co-Lead. The position also focuses on promoting partnerships and coordination within the Haiti Country Office, the MRM Technical Working Group, and with relevant technical staff at Regional Office and Headquarters levels, acting as the focal point for MRM-related interactions. Additionally, the role supports child protection actions in emergencies, addressing grave violations and programming for children affected by conflict and crises.
Responsibilities
Key services and tasks include supporting the CTFMR Secretariat and MRM Technical Working Group; implementing the MRM and strengthening the monitoring and reporting of grave violations against children (CAAC); coordinating with other monitoring mechanisms and key partners; preparing CTFMR reports and briefings and supporting CAAC advocacy; keeping CTFMR co-chairs and donors informed of CAAC developments; supporting fundraising, fund management, and reporting for MRM activities; mainstreaming child protection and CAAC concerns across UN operations; strengthening partnerships and coordination with relevant actors; supporting CAAC advocacy and liaison with the Office of the SRSG; strengthening national child protection capacity, particularly with the HNP; supporting field missions and joint assessments on child protection; and undertaking other duties as assigned by the Chief, Child Protection. This role is essential for ensuring the effective implementation of the MRM and the protection of children in Haiti.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Child Protection, Law, Human Rights, Political Affairs, or International Relations, including experience in promoting and protecting children's rights according to international standards.
