Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to support the Social Policy section, specifically the Public Finance Management team, in developing and populating an internal online dashboard. This dashboard will focus on child wellbeing and social sector financing. The intern will be instrumental in compiling, cleaning, organizing, and visualizing data sourced from national surveys and budget documents. The goal is to ensure the dashboard is user-friendly, easily updateable, and provides valuable insights for UNICEF's programme planning, advocacy efforts, and engagement with government and partners. This role offers a practical opportunity to contribute to data-driven decision-making for child-focused initiatives in Zambia.
Responsibilities
Compile, clean, organize, and visualize data from national surveys and budget documents for an internal online dashboard on child wellbeing and social sector financing. Ensure the dashboard is user-friendly, updateable, and useful for UNICEF programme planning, advocacy, and engagement with government and partners. Assist the Social Policy section, particularly the Public Finance Management team, in data collection and analysis. Support the development of reports and presentations based on the dashboard data. Conduct research on child wellbeing indicators and social sector financing mechanisms in Zambia. Collaborate with team members to identify data gaps and propose solutions. Maintain data integrity and accuracy throughout the process. Document data sources and methodologies clearly. Contribute to the overall objectives of the Social Policy section by providing timely and accurate data support. Assist in ad-hoc data requests and analysis as needed.
Work Experience
Experience working in Microsoft Excel and with data visualization tools such as Power BI is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to check data consistency and document sources clearly.
