Job Purpose
Under the close supervision and guidance of the Chief of Field Office, the Programme Assistant provides a broad range of administrative, operational, and procedural support to the section. The incumbent facilitates the implementation, monitoring, and delivery of programme results by ensuring timely and effective execution of tasks aligned with UNICEF rules and regulations. This role may support one or more programme areas or cross-functional initiatives and often works in coordination with other sections. The Programme Assistant is crucial in ensuring the smooth functioning of programme activities and contributing to the achievement of UNICEF's mission for children.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant provides administrative, operational, and procedural support to the section, facilitating programme implementation and monitoring. Key functions include Programme & Project Support, ensuring tasks align with UNICEF rules and regulations. Administrative & Financial Support involves managing budgets, processing payments, and maintaining financial records. Operations and Travel Support includes coordinating travel arrangements, logistics, and visa processing for staff and consultants. Administrative and Logistics Support and Event Coordination involves organizing meetings, workshops, and events, managing logistics and materials. Knowledge Management & Communication entails maintaining records, disseminating information, and supporting communication efforts. Digital Dexterity requires proficiency in relevant software and digital tools. Emergency Support & Flexibility involves adapting to changing needs and providing assistance during emergencies. The role may also involve supporting cross-functional initiatives and coordinating with other sections to ensure cohesive programme delivery.
Work Experience
Minimum five years of relevant administrative, programme support, or clerical work experience is required. Experience in functions comparable to a Programme Assistant role within UNICEF or the UN system is a strong asset. Experience working in international organizations, preferably within the UN system, is desirable.
