Job Purpose
The Monitoring Officer (Child Rights) will enhance UNICEF's programming efficiency and effectiveness by contributing to the monitoring of UNICEF's programmes. Concurrently, the role supports the Government and other partners by ensuring the availability of evidence for child-focused programming. This involves strengthening national data systems for child rights monitoring, influencing the national child rights monitoring system, agenda, policies, and programming to prioritize outcomes for children. The position also entails managing and coordinating UNICEF's evidence planning and overseeing UNICEF programme management in child rights monitoring, ensuring compliance with UNICEF Programme Procedures and developing/implementing the monitoring framework for UNICEF Eswatini’s programme.
Responsibilities
The Monitoring Officer (Child Rights) is responsible for strengthening national data systems for child rights monitoring, ensuring they are robust and capable of providing reliable data. This includes influencing the national child rights monitoring system, agenda, policies, and programming to effectively position outcomes for children. The role involves managing and coordinating UNICEF's evidence planning processes to ensure alignment with strategic objectives. A key responsibility is the effective management of UNICEF's programme in child rights monitoring, ensuring adherence to established standards and best practices. The officer will support the Head of Office in ensuring compliance with UNICEF Programme Procedures, maintaining high standards of accountability and operational integrity. Furthermore, the position requires the development and implementation of a comprehensive monitoring framework for UNICEF Eswatini’s programme, which will guide data collection, analysis, and reporting to track progress and inform programmatic adjustments. This includes coordinating with national stakeholders to gather data and disseminate findings.
Work Experience
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in development, research, planning, monitoring and evaluation, social development planning, data management and analytics, or a related field is required. This includes at least 1 year of experience specifically working with data and analytics.
