Job Purpose
The Chief, Nutrition reports to the Deputy Representative, providing general guidance and direction. This role is responsible for managing and supervising all stages of the nutrition program, from strategic planning and formulation to the delivery of results. The Chief also leads and manages the Nutrition team, ensuring concrete and sustainable results in ECD, maternal, infant, and child nutrition programs are achieved in alignment with plans, results-based management, UNICEF's Strategic Plans, and accountability frameworks. The efficiency and efficacy of the support provided by the Chief, Nutrition to the preparation, planning, and implementation of nutrition programs/projects contribute to and accelerate national development efforts to improve the nutritional status of mothers, infants, and children in the country, thereby enhancing UNICEF's credibility and ability to provide essential services.
Responsibilities
As Chief of Nutrition in UNICEF Madagascar, you will provide strategic leadership for the design, implementation, and oversight of UNICEF’s nutrition program, ensuring the delivery of sustainable, equitable, and high-impact results for children and women. You will lead a multidisciplinary team and drive key areas of work including managerial leadership, program development and planning, program management, monitoring and delivery of results, advisory services and technical support, advocacy, networking and partnership building, and innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building. In this role, you will collaborate closely with government counterparts, development partners, donors, academia, and UN agencies to strengthen nutrition systems, influence policies, and mobilize resources. You will champion innovation, evidence-based programming, and capacity development, ensuring alignment with national priorities, UNICEF strategies, and results-based management principles. Your work will directly contribute to improving maternal, infant, and child nutrition outcomes in the country.
Work Experience
At least 8 years of relevant work experience in nutrition, public health, nutrition planning, maternal and child health, health program management, monitoring and evaluation, policy development, advocacy, and partnership development. A proven track record in resource mobilization for the nutrition sector is also required.
