Job Purpose
The National Intern for Child Protection will support the Child Protection Section in Cambodia, working under the supervision of the Child Protection Officer. This role involves assisting an international consultant with critical tasks related to the development and review of legal frameworks for the social service workforce. Key activities include providing translation services for official documents such as Royal Decrees and Prakas, consolidating information from national and subnational consultations, and offering administrative support for documentation, filing, and archiving. The intern will contribute to the review and update of existing regulations and the drafting of new decrees, ensuring that feedback from stakeholders is incorporated into final documents. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience in child protection policy development and legal reform within a UN agency.
Responsibilities
The National Intern for Child Protection will provide essential support to the Child Protection Section, focusing on legal and administrative tasks. A primary responsibility will be to assist an international consultant with translation services, ensuring accurate rendition of documents from Khmer to English and vice versa, particularly for the draft Royal Decree on the establishment of a Social Service Workforce Board and the existing Prakas on defining roles and responsibilities of social service workforces. The intern will also offer administrative support to the consultant and the Child Protection team, which includes consolidating information, managing documentation, and coordinating inputs for the review and update of regulations. Furthermore, the intern will support national and subnational consultations by summarizing feedback collected from participants. This role also entails assisting in the drafting and finalization of the second version of the Royal Decree and a knowledge paper, incorporating feedback from consultations. Administrative duties will extend to preparing correspondence, taking meeting notes, and maintaining organized filing and archiving systems for all project-related documents, ensuring efficient document management.
