Job Purpose
The Programme Associate will support respective sections by performing a range of programme support functions to aid in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the country programme. This role ensures effective and timely delivery of programs in compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations. The associate will collaborate closely with internal staff, external partners, and agency counterparts to facilitate program design and delivery. Key responsibilities include providing regular feedback on project status, monitoring milestones, and advising on improvements to keep activities on track. This position is crucial for ensuring the efficient and effective execution of UNICEF's mandate to uphold the rights of every child.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate will be responsible for facilitating the development of programme cooperation agreements (PCAs) by providing necessary information and drafting selected sections. They will ensure the timely and accurate administrative processing of government and NGO proposals and requests for direct cash transfers (DCTs). The role involves conducting programme monitoring in UNICEF focus districts for cash and supplies, and reporting on project status to team members. Additionally, the associate will assist in conducting regular spot checks of partner projects to evaluate financial record-keeping, expenditure controls, and reporting systems. Monitoring and tracking the efficient distribution of program supplies is also a key function. The role includes researching, compiling, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data to support program delivery and report preparation. The Programme Associate will carry out transactions in VISION, ensuring programme results and coding align with annual work plans and making necessary amendments. They will also manage grant-related transactions, including registering allotments and tracking expiring grants. Preparing monitoring and reporting information on performance indicators for the supervisor and team, and regularly monitoring budgets and financial expenditures to ensure compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations are critical tasks. Finally, the associate will support capacity development activities by preparing training materials and participating in exercises.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in programme support or related areas is required. Experience in programme monitoring, financial tracking, and data analysis is advantageous.
