Job Purpose
The consultant will support the Chief of CAP and Programme Sections in developing and implementing advocacy and communication strategies, particularly for Polio and Immunization activities. This involves creating comprehensive plans, preparing targeted advocacy messages for various stakeholders, and developing communication packages for immunization campaigns. The role includes organizing events, such as World Polio Day, and developing a repository of key advocacy messages aligned with UNICEF priorities and the Country Programme. The consultant will produce advocacy briefs, talking points, and communication materials for senior management, ensuring all content is evidence-based and adheres to UNICEF branding guidelines. The position requires supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of high-visibility advocacy moments throughout the year, including World Children's Day, Universal Health Care Day, People with Disability Day, UNICEF Day, and International Day of the Girl Child.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief of CAP and in close collaboration with Programme Sections, the consultant will undertake the following tasks: Develop and update a comprehensive advocacy and communication plan for Polio and Immunization activities. Prepare advocacy messages targeting decision-makers, communities, media, and development partners. Develop communication packages for immunization campaigns. Organize events during the celebration of polio day. Develop a repository of key advocacy messages aligned with UNICEF priorities and the Country Programme. Produce advocacy briefs, talking points, key messages, and communication materials for senior management. Ensure that communication materials are evidence-based and aligned with UNICEF branding guidelines. Support planning, coordination, and implementation of high-visibility advocacy moments, including World Polio Day, World Children's Day, Universal Health Care Day, People with Disability Day, UNICEF Day, and International Day of the Girl Child. Prepare concept notes and implementation plans for these events. Coordinate logistics and stakeholder engagement for advocacy moments. Organize public events, panel discussions, and advocacy forums. Coordinate participation of government officials, development partners, youth, and media. Support the preparation of visibility materials and event communication packages. Produce post-event reports and media monitoring summaries.
Work Experience
Minimum five years of relevant professional experience in communication, advocacy, public relations, or media. Experience supporting public health communication campaigns and immunization initiatives is highly desirable. Proven experience organizing public events and advocacy campaigns. Experience engaging with media and producing communication content. Demonstrated experience developing digital communication products and podcasts.
