Job Purpose

The Driver (G-2) position is crucial for the safe and effective implementation of UNICEF's operations in Maracaibo, Venezuela. The role ensures the secure and reliable transportation of personnel and goods, adhering strictly to local traffic laws and UNICEF's established safety protocols. By maintaining vehicles, utilizing digital systems for tracking, and providing essential operational support, the driver contributes directly to the continuity of UNICEF programs, upholds safety standards, and maintains the organization's credibility on the ground. This role is vital for supporting UNICEF's mission to protect children's rights and well-being in a challenging context.

Responsibilities

The Driver (G-2) is responsible for providing safe and reliable driving services, ensuring compliance with local traffic regulations and UNICEF's safety protocols. This includes the routine care, maintenance, and preparation of assigned vehicles to ensure operational readiness. The role involves the effective use of digital tools and tracking systems for monitoring movements and logistics. Accurate documentation and reporting of all trips, including mileage and fuel consumption, are essential. The driver must maintain effective communication, especially during déplacements, and be prepared for emergency situations. Additionally, the position requires providing support to office operations during periods when driving duties are not required, ensuring a flexible and adaptable contribution to the team's overall objectives. This role is key to facilitating program delivery and ensuring the safety of UNICEF staff and assets.

Work Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience as a driver with a proven safe driving record is required. Experience in humanitarian contexts, particularly in development, fragile environments, or humanitarian situations, is also necessary.
