Job Purpose

The incumbent will align UNICEF's WASH/IPC priorities with the national incident management structure, ensuring interventions are evidence-based and integrated with other response pillars. The position requires senior leadership to navigate operational complexities and support government-led coordination across affected and at-risk areas, ultimately aiming to contain transmission and protect communities.
Responsibilities
The Senior Adviser WASH (IPC) will lead strategic planning, policy dialogue, and provide technical guidance for UNICEF's WASH/IPC response to the Ebola outbreak across all affected provinces. This includes overseeing resource mobilization and inter-agency coordination efforts. The role ensures coherence between UNICEF's WASH/IPC priorities and the Ebola Incident Management/Coordination structure, operating under the technical guidance of the Chief WASH and direct supervision of the Ebola Response Senior Project Coordinator. Key responsibilities involve ensuring WASH/IPC interventions are prioritized based on epidemiological and operational evidence, and integrated with case management, safe burials, risk communication, logistics, and supply chain management. The incumbent will also focus on technical quality, evidence-based adaptive management, partnerships, capacity strengthening of local actors, and resource mobilization. Furthermore, the role involves managing risks and ensuring accountability in the response efforts, contributing to a comprehensive and effective public health emergency response.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in WASH, IPC, public health emergencies, or humanitarian response. This includes substantial senior leadership experience in complex emergencies.
