Job Purpose
Join UNICEF Afghanistan as a Logistics Assistant and help ensure that essential programme supplies are delivered efficiently and on time. You will provide operational and administrative support across in-country logistics, warehousing and inventory management, helping to maintain an effective supply chain while ensuring compliance with UNICEF policies, procedures and standards. This role is crucial for supporting UNICEF's mission to reach every child with the supplies they need, contributing directly to the realization of children's rights.
Responsibilities
Support logistics planning and operations, including shipment and pipeline monitoring, customs clearance, transport, warehousing and distribution. Liaise with programme and supply colleagues and external service providers, maintain accurate logistics documentation and records, support monitoring of service-provider performance, and help resolve operational issues to facilitate the timely delivery of supplies. Support effective warehousing and inventory management, including assessment and optimal use of storage capacity, receipt and dispatch of supplies, stock reporting, physical inventory counts and maintenance of accurate records and internal controls. Monitor stock levels and expiry dates, applying FIFO and FEFO principles, and support the appropriate disposal of commodities when required. Ensure compliance with UNICEF policies, procedures, and standards in all logistics and warehousing activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management, with particular emphasis on logistics, including warehousing, customs clearance, and transportation, is required.
