Job Purpose
The consultancy aims to provide essential technical support to the Child Health & Development (CHD) Section in Beijing for the successful preparation, execution, monitoring, and documentation of the Global Children’s Environmental Health Conference. This significant event, scheduled for November 2026, will address the critical and growing threats posed by climate change and environmental degradation to child health. The consultant will play a key role in coordinating and facilitating the technical aspects of the conference, working closely with the National Institute of Environmental Health, CDC, China, and in collaboration with UNICEF Headquarters. The objective is to highlight the importance of children's environmental health interventions and to foster a global network of stakeholders committed to improving children's lives worldwide.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive technical support to the Child Health & Development Section for the Global Children’s Environmental Health Conference. This includes assisting in the planning and organization of conference sessions, workshops, and related events. Coordinate closely with the National Institute of Environmental Health, CDC, China, to ensure the smooth execution of technical components. Liaise with UNICEF Headquarters to align conference activities with global strategies and objectives. Facilitate communication and collaboration among national and international stakeholders involved in children's environmental health. Monitor the progress of conference preparations and identify potential challenges, proposing timely solutions. Document key discussions, outcomes, and recommendations from the conference. Assist in the development of conference materials, reports, and publications. Support the establishment and functioning of a global network of stakeholders committed to improving children's environmental health. Ensure that the conference effectively addresses the changing patterns of disease among children and the overlapping risks from environmental factors such as extreme weather, pollution, and chemical exposure. Contribute to the overall success of the conference in raising awareness and driving action for children's environmental health.
Work Experience
At least 3 years of relevant work experience in Environmental Health programs, with a specific focus on experience within China.
