Job Purpose

The Education Officer (NO-2) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, will provide technical, operational, and administrative support for the design, monitoring, and evaluation of educational programs focused on improving foundational learning outcomes in Language and Mathematics. This role is crucial for supporting the professional development of educational staff, principals, and teachers across compulsory education levels (initial, primary, and secondary) to achieve sustainable results aligned with the 2026-2030 Country Program. The position involves development planning, preparing, executing, managing, and implementing various technical and administrative tasks to facilitate program development, implementation, progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, ensuring effective delivery of results.

Responsibilities

The Education Officer will support the development and planning of foundational learning programs, focusing on improving learning outcomes in Language and Mathematics. Key responsibilities include managing programs, monitoring progress, and delivering results effectively. The role entails providing technical and operational support for the implementation of educational initiatives, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives. Building and maintaining networks and partnerships with government bodies, educational institutions, and other stakeholders will be essential. Furthermore, the officer will contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the education sector, sharing best practices and lessons learned. This includes supporting the professional development of teachers and school leaders, and potentially implementing EdTech solutions to enhance access and quality of education. The position requires active participation in program progress monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement of educational interventions.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of professional experience is required in developing programs aimed at improving learning outcomes in Language and Mathematics for pre-primary, primary, and secondary education.
